Adding Elegance to Your Furniture is Easy
Have you ever watched a movie or dreamed of living in a period drama? As you swoon over the elegance of cinematography do you sublimely wish you could add a little more elegance around you in your everyday life? I think we all have. Dreaming is always fun, but you can put your dreams into action very quickly with a few simple additions. Watching my new favorite period drama this weekend — that would be Pride and Prejudice 2005. — I marveled at the wall decor in the ballroom dance scene.
The scene where Darcy and Lizzy dance. I would love to have a wall like that in my home, but sadly I don’t own a Georgian mansion with 15-foot ceilings and a ballroom. Nor do I have the time or the patience to water gild large embellishments even if I had them. OK, I suppose I would take the time if I had them. However, what I do have is a study that needs some updated side tables that could use a special flair. Let me introduce Gilding Wax and Efex. The easy way to add a neoclassical look to any piece of furniture you rescue.
Enter our characters gilding wax and Greek Key trim T33.
Even though I can not recreate a ballroom in my coastal farmhouse, I can use these two characters to add some symbolic elegance. Taking one of two demilune tables, we applied the Greek Key trim and then added a small T47 dentil molding to the top and bottom. Finally, we painted them white and then added a touch of gold gilding wax. Just use a small paintbrush to apply Kings Gold gilding, and you will see an instant change.
It is so easy to enhance anything with this wax. And that little touch can add a bit of elegance around you in your everyday life!
