New French Provincial Table –
…..styled for today’s home
Three years ago I found a lovely french table. It is square, solid wood and beautiful. It was painted with latex when I saw it, and I really wanted to show off our Efex embellishments.
We had a competition to pick the color for the table, and the winner was Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Florence. And that table became the cover of our Efex brochures.
Fast forward a few years.
The existing finish was far too chunky for the style of the table, and the Efex was lost in the chunk. Humm… not great for the lady who makes the Efex. Hence, I have always wanted to redo this table. Finally, last winter I decided to change it up a little bit. You can read all about the stripping here!
I added a different molding, a Pediment P 17 and two coats of off-white. This is a custom mix of Pure White and Old Ochre, from the Annie Sloan line. I wanted a simple and elegant look for this desk. Like a wedding dress for a certain royal wedding this week.
The trim is finished in a mixture of Kings Gold and Silver gilding wax. Almost platinum, again simple yet elegant.
For now, this beautiful desk is sitting in our study, but when I finally redo my home office, it will be one of two centerpieces. Both, of course, are French style even though we live in The Maine Country Home.
